GCAP
Gaurishankar Conservation Area Permit
Rolwaling, Tamang Heritage · less-trodden trails
About this permit
What it covers and what it doesn't.
Required for the Gaurishankar Conservation Area, which covers Rolwaling Valley, the Tamang Heritage Trail, parts of the Numbur Cheese Circuit, and side routes between Khumbu and Langtang. A quieter, off-the-tourist-map alternative — though parts of Rolwaling are also restricted.
Read this before you buy
Most of GCAP can be trekked independently with just this permit — Tamang Heritage Trail and lower Rolwaling are open to solo trekkers. However, upper Rolwaling (above Beding village, including Tsho Rolpa lake and the Tashi Lapcha pass) is a restricted area requiring a separate RAP, licensed guide, and registered agency. If your route stays low, GCAP alone is enough.

FAQ
Questions about GCAP.
Can I do the Tamang Heritage Trail solo with just GCAP?
Yes — Tamang Heritage Trail is fully open to independent trekkers. You only need the GCAP. No RAP, no guide requirement.
What about Rolwaling — solo or guided?
Lower Rolwaling (up to Beding) you can do solo with just the GCAP. Upper Rolwaling (Tsho Rolpa lake, Tashi Lapcha pass crossing into Khumbu) is restricted and requires an agency + guide + RAP, which we don't sell.
Is GCAP the same price as ACAP?
Yes — same NPR 3,000 base for foreigners.
